The Employer Demand and Supply-Demand Reports have been updated through October 2022.
October 2022 data shows that the ratio of job postings compared to unemployment benefit claimants has been affected by the COVID-19 crisis. The ratio for the number of job postings compared to those interacting with the unemployment insurance system from October 1 through October 31, 2022 was 4.20 job postings, whereas the October 2021 ratio was 3.57 job postings.

For this update, we will be covering the month-over-month difference between September and October 2022.
Month-over-month review
Total job postings decreased from 170,475 in September to 159,546 in October 2022, a decrease of 10,929 or 6.4 percent. The number of new job postings also experienced a decrease going from 68,699 new postings in September 2022 to 61,023 new postings in October 2022, a decrease of 7,676 or 11.2 percent.
Without the Seattle-King County region, the number of total job postings comparing September to October 2022 decreased by 4,461 or 5.4 percent, going from 82,896 to 78,435. The number of new job postings experienced a decrease of 3,398 or 10.0 percent, going from 34,035 to 30,637 during this period.
In a month-over-month comparison, all workforce development areas (WDAs) experienced decreases in the number of total job postings. Seattle-King County and Tacoma-Pierce WDAs experienced the largest decreases in the number of total job postings, with a decrease of 6,468 and 1,317, or 7.4 and 8.7 percent, respectively.
Occupations with the largest increase in total job postings comparing September to October 2022:
Sales and related with an increase of 237 or 1.5 percent;
Healthcare support with an increase of 63 or 1.2 percent; and
Personal care and service with an increase of 9 or 0.2 percent.
Occupations with the largest decreases in total job postings comparing September to October 2022:
Computer and mathematical with a decrease of 2,544 or 13.5 percent;
Management with a decrease of 2,032 or 8.5 percent; and
Food preparation and serving related with a decrease of 1,060 or 11.8 percent.
