Important Opportunity for Construction Businesses

The Washington State Department of Transportation is implementing a new Small & Veteran’s Enforceable Goals program intended to increase Minority and Women’s Business Enterprise participation on construction projects.

In order to be considered, your business must be registered with Washington's Electronic Business Solution (WEBS) as one of the following:

  • Small Business Enterprise

  • Veteran Owned Business

OMWBE certification alone will not grant you access to this program. However, you can display your OMWBE certification badge in WEBS for greater visibility.

To register, visit the WEBS Portal and click 'Register Now' to get started.

If you have questions on the Small & Veteran’s Business Enforceable Goals Program, contact the WSDOT Office of Equal Opportunity at 360-705-7090

National Small Business Week
May 2nd through May 8th

Small Business Week is the first week of May each year. It celebrates the business owners across the country: recognizing their innovation, development, and service.

Half the jobs in America can be attributed to small businesses, thus reinforcing their vital role in our economy. Over 30 million small businesses create over 1.5 million jobs annually in America. Washington state is host to over 608 thousand small businesses that employ over 1 million workers. Over 99% of all Washington-based firms are small businesses.

There are various ways to celebrate small businesses this week and ongoing; some are:

  • Order local this month

  • Highlight a local small business

  • Visit a local small-business

  • Spread the word about a small business you frequent

  • Follow the business on social media

Small businesses are an integral part of our economy. Show them you care, patronize
